W dniu dzisiejszym aresztowano zarząd kierujący serwisem MegaUpload. Powodem jest oskarżenie o piractwo. Zajęto też majątek spółki w USA. W konsekwencji witryny MegaUpload i MegaVideo zaprzestały świadczenia usług hostingowych.
Nieoficjalnie mówi się, że serwis został reaktywowany pod adresem ip 109.236.83.66, lecz zachodzi obawa, że strona może być sfałszowana w celu wyłudzenia danych użytkowników.
Wygląda na to, że kolejny hoster został zamknięty w imię walki z piractwem. Hoster, którego promowali nawet sami "mainstreamowi" artyści:
